Fishing Report

October 1, 2011 - The fishing started off slow in the beginning of the week but ended very strong with excellent fishing Friday and Saturday. We had a huge ocean swell in the beginning of the week that was preventing new fish from coming in the bay. The swell finally laid down on Thursday and huge numbers of fish came in on Friday morning. This fishing was some of the best we have had in about a month with many guides landing four to ten fish by mid-day. There were a bunch of wild Coho in the mix so many of the fish had to be released, but there were still a lot of Chinook and some very nice hatchery Coho to help fill the fish box. There is a low pressure system moving through now and is supposed to be here for a few days. Things should really pick up again once the high pressure builds again on Wednesday. There are still a couple more weeks of good fishing before the fish move up the river. Give me a call - we'll find a day to get you on the water!

September 25, 2011 - We have had some very good fishing the past couple of weeks. Last week started off very good, slowed down during the middle of the week and finished very strong on Saturday and Sunday. Large numbers of fish came into the bay Saturday afternoon before the storm hit that night. The fish were large and biting very well. It rained over an inch Saturday night and the fish were still biting Sunday morning. They will probably move up the river in the next few days, but there will be more to follow them. The Coho have just started to show up so we should have good fishing until the middle of next month. I have some open days the first couple of weeks in October if you are interested in catching some large Chinook and fiesty Coho.

September 11, 2011 - The week started really strong but slowed down on Wednesday. I think part of the reason it slowed down on Wednesday is the temperature was climbing fast and the ocean swell really kicked up. The temperature is now around 70 degrees and the fish are staying in the bay. The swell started to lay down on Sunday and is suppose to be calm all week. The fishing did pick up in the bay on Sunday with some nice fish over 30lbs being caught. The big fish of the year so far was caught on Wednesday a whopping 53lbs. Let me know if you want to get on the water this week looks like it could be very productive.

September 4, 2011 - The pictures say it all.  The fishing was excellent all week long.  Call soon - the days are filling up!

August 29, 2011 - The fishing was good Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of last week with Thursday and Friday slowing down. The water warmed back up to around 70 degrees and the fish really started to stack up. There were at least 70 fish caught in the bay on Saturday allowing many boats multiple fish. Things are looking good next week with warm weather in the valley the fish should continue to bite in the bay!

August 22, 2011 - This was an interesting week. Monday the fishing was slow. Tuesday things really picked up in the bay with a bunch of new fish showing up. There was a really good bite on the incoming tide and most of the outgoing with some boats catching three or four fish. Wednesday the fishing was still good but not as good as Tuesday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday the fishing was ok with most of the guide boats hooking a couple of fish.

I have some open days the second half of the week if you want get on the water.

August 15, 2011 - These are some of the larger fish of the week that Russ and Gary caught. There are quite a few four and five year old fish this year weighing in the high twenties to mid thirty pound range. The fishing started off slow in the beginning of the week with the bite being inconsistent. Friday and Saturday things changed with decent numbers of fish being caught in the bay. The fish started to bite half way through the incoming tide and there was a decent bite on the out flow. With some luck the Salmon fishing should stay more consistent now that we are into the middle of August.

June 13, 2011 - I am in Alaska guiding now on the Kenai River and will be here thru the month of July. I will start fishing the Rogue Bay on August 5th. Give me a call to pick a day for Fall Chinook dates are filling up so call soon.
