Fishing Report
October 1, 2011 - The fishing started off slow in the beginning of the week but ended very strong with excellent fishing Friday and Saturday. We had a huge ocean swell in the beginning of the week that was preventing new fish from coming in the bay. The swell finally laid down on Thursday and huge numbers of fish came in on Friday morning. This fishing was some of the best we have had in about a month with many guides landing four to ten fish by mid-day. There were a bunch of wild Coho in the mix so many of the fish had to be released, but there were still a lot of Chinook and some very nice hatchery Coho to help fill the fish box. There is a low pressure system moving through now and is supposed to be here for a few days. Things should really pick up again once the high pressure builds again on Wednesday. There are still a couple more weeks of good fishing before the fish move up the river. Give me a call - we'll find a day to get you on the water!

September 25, 2011 - We have had some very good fishing the past couple of weeks. Last week started off very good, slowed down during the middle of the week and finished very strong on Saturday and Sunday. Large numbers of fish came into the bay Saturday afternoon before the storm hit that night. The fish were large and biting very well. It rained over an inch Saturday night and the fish were still biting Sunday morning. They will probably move up the river in the next few days, but there will be more to follow them. The Coho have just started to show up so we should have good fishing until the middle of next month. I have some open days the first couple of weeks in October if you are interested in catching some large Chinook and fiesty Coho.

September 11, 2011 - The week started really strong but slowed down on Wednesday. I think part of the reason it slowed down on Wednesday is the temperature was climbing fast and the ocean swell really kicked up. The temperature is now around 70 degrees and the fish are staying in the bay. The swell started to lay down on Sunday and is suppose to be calm all week. The fishing did pick up in the bay on Sunday with some nice fish over 30lbs being caught. The big fish of the year so far was caught on Wednesday a whopping 53lbs. Let me know if you want to get on the water this week looks like it could be very productive.

August 29, 2011 - The fishing was good Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of last week with Thursday and Friday slowing down. The water warmed back up to around 70 degrees and the fish really started to stack up. There were at least 70 fish caught in the bay on Saturday allowing many boats multiple fish. Things are looking good next week with warm weather in the valley the fish should continue to bite in the bay!

August 22, 2011 - This was an interesting week. Monday the fishing was slow. Tuesday things really picked up in the bay with a bunch of new fish showing up. There was a really good bite on the incoming tide and most of the outgoing with some boats catching three or four fish. Wednesday the fishing was still good but not as good as Tuesday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday the fishing was ok with most of the guide boats hooking a couple of fish.
I have some open days the second half of the week if you want get on the water.

August 15, 2011 - These are some of the larger fish of the week that Russ and Gary caught. There are quite a few four and five year old fish this year weighing in the high twenties to mid thirty pound range. The fishing started off slow in the beginning of the week with the bite being inconsistent. Friday and Saturday things changed with decent numbers of fish being caught in the bay. The fish started to bite half way through the incoming tide and there was a decent bite on the out flow. With some luck the Salmon fishing should stay more consistent now that we are into the middle of August.

June 13, 2011 - I am in Alaska guiding now on the Kenai River and will be here thru the month of July. I will start fishing the Rogue Bay on August 5th. Give me a call to pick a day for Fall Chinook dates are filling up so call soon.
May 2011
May 22, 2011 - The fishing started off slow, but was good for a couple of days during the middle of the week. Friday and Saturday were tough and things picked up again on Sunday. It has been inconsistent but there are still some good days of fishing with boats hooking three to five fish. The fishing should pick up this week and become more stable now that the minus tides are behind us. There is still some time to catch a springer before I head to Alaska. Give me a call and we can schedule a day on the water.

May 15, 2011 - I am going to be honest with you. The fishing has been slow this week. The conditions are really good, but there just doesn't seem to be many fish coming in. This is one of the longer slow periods that I have seen over the years. Any day now we are going to have a big shot of fish come into the river. The middle to the end of May consistently has really good numbers of fish. This slow period doesn't worry me some of our best fishing is yet to come!

May 8, 2011 - My wife had our first child on Sunday, a healthy baby boy! So I spent the week at home. The fishing has been slow this week with Thursday being the best day of last week with good numbers of fish coming in on the incoming tide. Friday and Saturday were tough fishing - most likely due to the minus tides. This week has a lot of potential with the last minus tide on Monday and stable weather expected throughout the week.
May 1, 2011 - The beginning of the week sarted off really strong. Monday was very productive in the middle river with the fish that came in on Sunday, with quite a few boats hooking four or five fish in the morning. The middle of the week was slow but there were still fish around. Friday things really picked up with 25 or 30 fish being caught at Elephant rock in the afternoon.Saturday and Sunday were fair with most of the guide boats having an opportunity at a couple of fish. This week looks very promising with stable weather and optimal ocean conditions.

April 24, 2011 - TThe river was high and muddy for the beginning of the week. Wednesday there were a few fish caught but it was pretty slow. Thursday and Friday there were quite a few fish around with some boats landing four or five fish. Saturday for some reason things really shut down. There were still some fish caught but as a whole it was slow. Easter Sunday was a different story though. There were a bunch of fish that came in on the afternoon tide and things really picked up with a number of boats landing two to five fish just in the afternoon. If you have never caught a Spring Salmon now is the time. This coming week looks very promising!
April 2011
April 17, 2011 - There has been some good fishing this past week. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday there were good numbers of Springers caught in the lower river with most boats hooking a couple of fish. Thursday and Friday was a bit slower probably due to the Storm that came in. The river started to rise on Saturday and is expected to peak sometime on Monday. The fishing should pick up again by middle of the week when the river drops and clears some.
